Level 2 (on-skates)
On-skate practices begin after completing Level 1.
Before scrimmaging, you’ll train on skating skills and get tested to ensure you and those around you stay safe.
COME AS YOU ARE and get ready to make some friends!
Our league ranges in age from their early 20s to players currently ranging in age from 20s to 50s, with members of varied identities and body types. Come as you are. We want to roll with you!
Inclusive language and mindsets are required. Our team aims to foster a safe, welcoming, tight-knit atmosphere. We ask our current and future team members to participate in self-evaluation opportunities for implicit biases; continue learning from one another; be coachable; and respectfully speak up and educate one another when opportunities arise.
Cost
The program fee is $50 if paid on the first day, or $45 in advance. This is a one-time fee that includes both levels. Gear costs will be discussed in Level-One training.
To begin on-skate training, players will be required to purchase skater insurance for around $100 per year. Visit the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association’s Insurance page for more information. We encourage interested players to come to Level-One training and purchase insurance at the end if they want to continue on to Level Two.
Gear
Unless you already have gear, please wait until you have begun the Level One training to make any purchases – it will be discussed in depth. Gear is expensive and difficult to find locally, so we want to make sure you buy the right gear the first time. We are in the process of building a gear library to assist players who can’t afford all of their gear right away. If this is you, please let us know and we will try our best to discreetly help you find the necessary gear.
If you are eager to get on skates ASAP, email us and we can advise you on the best skates and gear in advance.
When do we start?
Once we have enough interested new skaters and a space for you to practice, we will schedule an information night and share the New Skater Program schedule with you!
